Official club partner: Michael Beale knows he 'can't go on' with current Rangers players

Michael Beale “can’t go on” with his current Rangers players after a “grim” win over St Johnstone, according to official club partner Heart & Hand podcast.

The Bears progressed into the next round of the Scottish Cup thanks to a 1-0 win on Saturday night (21 January), with Borna Barisic scoring the only goal of the game on the stroke of half-time.

Beale fielded arguably his strongest available lineup for the game but the performance was poor despite the result, and Heart & Hand took to their personal Twitter account (21 January) to share their thoughts on the win and current status of the squad.

“Well that was a grim watch BUT in the cup I’ll take a win,” they wrote.

“Michael Beale has passed every test so far as boss and what looked a challenging January has been good results-wise.

“But he’ll know we can’t go on with these same players. Need some fresh blood.”

Necessary

The club are seemingly close to the signing of Todd Cantwell with a fee agreed and a medical being done this weekend, while there are moves in the pipeline for Morgan Whittaker and Nicolas Raskin.

But until those deals are done and pen has been put to paper, Beale is having to deal with these players in the squad who clearly aren’t at the level required to compete.

As it stands we’re good enough to beat the teams we’re supposed to based on our individual quality, however we need more to close the gap on Celtic and push on.

The performance was certainly “grim”, as described, but the result was just what we needed and we continue to be in a good place since Beale’s arrival.

But the board have a little over a week to get the necessary business done to give Beale what he needs to push on and really make this team his own.
