Charlie McCann exit set as Rangers agree transfer deal with Forest Green – Fabrizio Romano

Rangers have agreed a deal with English side Forest Green Rovers for the permanent sale of Charlie McCann in January, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Italian journalist has reported that the Bears did offer the young talent a new contract, but he wanted to move on for more first-team opportunities away from Ibrox.

McCann will now travel south for his medical and contract signing, with a deal until 2026 already agreed as Michael Beale gets set to lose his first face.

Writing on his personal Twitter account, Romano shared the latest news from Ibrox with the first exit of potential many all but done in January.

“Rangers have agreed a deal with Forest Green Rovers for permanent transfer of Charlie McCann,” he wrote.

“Player was offered a new contract at Rangers but wanted to play regular first-team football. Deal to 2026 agreed — player will travel down for medical and signing.”

Farewell.

Of course, it’s never nice to see your young talents moving on to find new clubs.

But, when a new deal was offered and the club tried their best to keep him on board, it sometimes becomes clear that the player themselves are pushing that move rather than being forced out.

Beale is looking to strengthen his midfield at the end of this month, and that will only push McCann further down the pecking order, and that is something he clearly wasn’t happy with.

With links to Nicolas Raskin growing with each passing day, the Standard Liege maestro should come in and make everyone forget about this exit sooner rather than later.

Le Soir went as far as to report that a medical was already done, with an agreement likely on Saturday 21 January, although the Daily Record has shut that down.

Beale made it no secret that more than one enquiry had been made by other clubs this week so sales were possible, with McCann possibly opening the floodgates.

This is certainly one to keep a close eye on.

In other Rangers news,  the Gers are expected to sign this “World Cup star” in January.
