Rangers want to sign Nathan Dlamini, Aston Villa ready to let him leave

Rangers want to sign Aston Villa academy starlet Nathan Dlamini as he looks set to leave Villa Park, according to Daily Record journalist Scott Burns.

The young winger is set to leave the Midlands club and the Bears are set to hand him the opportunity of earning an academy deal at Ibrox.

Villa are willing to let him leave to continue his development elsewhere, although Rangers will face competition from other Premier League clubs too according to the Daily Record live blog (20 January, 9:34am)

Dlamini is an exciting young winger and no doubt is someone that Michael Beale will know well from his short stint at Villa Park.

Having worked with the first-team with Steven Gerrard for a short while, Beale will have been aware of the top talents at the club coming up, just like he was when Villa poached Rory Wilson from us.

Rangers have done very well when it comes to youth recruitment in recent years, with the likes of Zak Lovelace joining from Millwall and Dlamini is another player who could grow and develop into a first-team star.

There is the potential that he could become another Calvin Bassey too, who became the club’s record sale when he left for Ajax just two years after coming from the Charlton academy system where he was essentially surplus to requirements.

Beale has always had a great eye for young talent, and while we don’t know too much about Dlamini individually, the academy has got some of the best staff in the world and we can make him of great use to us should he join.

In other Rangers news, the club want to offer an “excellent” midfielder a 4.5 year deal to join Ibrox “ASAP” according to a report.
