Rangers to reach Nicolas Raskin agreement Saturday after medical passed
Nicolas Raskin has already passed his medical at Rangers and a full agreement with the player is set to be finalised on Saturday, Le Soir in Belgium reports.
Gers boss Michael Beale spoke about the young midfielder in his pre-match press conference ahead of the cup against St Johnstone on Friday (Sky Sports, 20 January), but wouldn’t specify the status of an approach any further than “interest”.
But it looks like the club are a long way down the road to signing him after his contract extension negotiations at Standard Liege broke down.

Le Soir report: “[Raskin] is close to signing with Glasgow Rangers. The young Belgian midfielder has already passed his medical examination and the agreement with the Scottish club should be finalized this Saturday.
“For Glasgow Rangers, it now remains to reach an agreement with Standard, which hopes to recover some money in the operation.”

Todd Cantwell has already been wrapped up and the club aren’t waiting around to follow him with second one of the manager’s targets for the January window.
Midfield is a position that has looked in need for some time, and in long-term target Raskin the position appears to be finally getting the reinforcement it has waited for.
Raskin, 21, has been a key player at the Belgian side in his young career, making 96 appearances, but has fallen out of favour with former Celtic boss Ronny Deila after the failed contract negotiations.

His current deal is set to expire in the summer and such a situation has understandably attracted interest from a number of sources.
But it looks like the Light Blues are about to take advantage in the same way they did on the Cantwell move, to pay a small fee in order to secure a player now ahead of the crowd, assuming agreement can now be reached between the clubs.
Everything is starting to look positive now in terms of the window, and Beale will have to hope that it translates into improvements on the pitch after a number of the summer arrivals have so far flattered to deceive.
In other Rangers news, with Cantwell done there is “more incoming” already, which Raskin looks to be the first now.
