Personal terms in place for Rangers to complete Todd Cantwell signing from Norwich

Rangers are close to completing the signing of Norwich forward Todd Cantwell, with personal terms now in place to complete the deal, according to The Athletic.

The 24-year-old has long been a target of the Gers this month and was given permission to find a new club, with his contract at Carrow Road due to expire in the summer.

Sky Sports [18 January] revealed during the week the player held positive talks with the Light Blues and was favouring a move to Ibrox ahead of the other options presented to him.

Now it seems as though Michael Beale is close to completing his long-held transfer target.

According to reports in The Athletic [20 January], the Gers are on the verge of completing a deal for the former England Under-21 international, with personal terms now in place for the deal to be wrapped up.

Quality

Finally, the Gers and Beale will be getting their man. And Todd Cantwell represents an astute and quality piece of business for the club as they look to close the nine-point gap on Old Firm rivals Celtic.

Rangers have desperately needed some much-needed quality to add to their ranks this month, and signing Cantwell is one the club can certainly be content with.

With Ryan Kent and Fashion Sakala the undisputed attacking outlets for Beale, he’s certainly needed a signing capable of challenging those two for a starting spot.

Cantwell certainly fits the bill because of his valuable top-level experience in the Premier League, his reliability and 1v1 qualities up against opposition defenders and his uniqueness in the final third. Also possesses the character and mentality to thrive at Ibrox.

This move comes as a new lease of life for the player too, having not really enjoyed his time at Carrow Road since Daniel Farke’s departure.

Rangers is the ideal environment and platform for him to build his confidence again, and prove the undoubted quality he harnessed during his Premier League emergence in the 2019/20 campaign.
