Michael Beale raves about Nicolas Raskin with Rangers pre-contract deal on the cards

Michael Beale has lavished praise on January target Nicolas Raskin as the Gers are in pole position to complete the signing of the Standard Liege midfielder.

According to reports in the Scottish Daily Mail [20 January, page 74], the talented 21-year-old is a free agent at the end of the season and he could potentially agree on a pre-contract deal with the Light Blues.

Rangers are also reportedly [20 Janaury] close to the signing of Norwich City midfielder Todd Cantwell with an ‘agreement in place’ with the club and personal terms ‘sorted’.

And it looks as if Beale won’t stop there, with the club also with ‘talks ongoing‘ over Swansea City winger Morgan Whittaker.

And speaking [via Joshua Barrie, 20 January] at his press conference ahead of this weekend’s Scottish cup tie with St Johnstone, he says that the club “are very close with one or two” pieces of business. And he also lavished praise on Raskin: “A good player I remember from our time playing Standard Liege.”

These are exciting times for Beale and Rangers as the former Queens Park Rangers looks to put his stamp on his squad ahead of their potential pursuit of league and cup glory this season.

Securing the signature of Todd Cantwell is a sensational start to the Gers business this summer, as the 24-year-old will certainly add some much-needed quality to their attacking ranks.

And if the club can follow that up in securing moves for Whittaker and Rankin, then Beale could well have himself a hugely competitive and exuberant squad ready to have another go at toppling Celtic next season.

The Ibrox has become an attractive hub for young and exciting talents to learn their trade, and Rankin and Whittaker fit the kind of profile Beale is desperate for as he aims to build the club into his image.

Things are looking bright at Ibrox, and the Gers fans are in for an enjoyable ride with Beale and young crop.
