James McFadden slams Daniel Armstrong 'madness' after Borna Barisic incident in Rangers win v Kilmarnock
James McFadden has torn into Kilmarnock winger Daniel Armstrong after the 25-year-old was sent off in the latter stages of Killie’s 3-2 defeat to Rangers.
Armstrong was shown a second yellow card for an elbow on Borna Barisic after putting in an impressive performance for Derek McInnes’ side.
McFadden was scathing of the 25-year-old after the incident and felt it was the correct decision to send him off.
“This one is just madness, he doesn’t have to do it. It’s brilliant skill from Barisic. The arm comes over and it’s absolutely the correct decision to send him off because it’s just a moment of madness,” said McFadden (Sky Sports, 22:09, 18 January).
Nasty
It could have been a red card on its own, that’s how bad the elbow from Armstrong was. Barisic had turned away and was going nowhere which makes the decision from the Killie wide man even more ridiculous. In fact, the Croatian was lucky to avoid a more serious injury as a result of the challenge.

It was an impressive performance from Michael Beale’s side at Rugby Park and it continues their excellent form since his return to the club. Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent were both excellent once again and despite a late consolation for Kilmarnock, it was a relatively comfortable evening’s work for the Gers.
One issue Beale will be looking to rectify is his side’s slow starts in games. The Light Blues have fallen behind far too often in recent weeks and it’s only Rangers’ powers of recovery which are currently dragging them to victories.
Nonetheless, it was an important victory on Wednesday (18 January) and it keeps the pressure on Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership.
