Rangers push to see if they can complete transfer with Morgan Whittaker keen on Ibrox move

Swansea attacker Morgan Whittaker is said to be keen on a January transfer move to Rangers with interest mounting, according to the Daily Record.

Early talks have begun to see if the Bears can push through a deal but Russell Martin is not exactly keen to let the 22-year-old move away this month.

There is still said to be a gap in what both clubs value Whittaker at, after his successful loan spell at Plymouth Argyle saw him catch the eye.

Michael Beale is said to see Whittaker as a player who can feature anywhere across the front line, with attacking reinforcements being targeted.

The Scottish Sun have reported on Monday 16 January that Rangers have already lodged a £900,000 bid for the 22-year-old, with those talks really progressing.

It is said that Whittaker will cost up to £2million, though, so the ball is in the court of Ross Wilson and Beale to show how much they really want the young attacker.

Get it done.

We have seen the exact same happen with Todd Cantwell.

Rangers and Beale have identified two young talents from south of the border, but look to have not been ready for the hardball that these English clubs can play.

It is easy to take talent from another Scottish club compared, but English clubs don’t need the money as much, so they can hold out for whatever they want.

Swansea look to be doing just that, with Rangers’ first bid needing to be more than doubled to get a deal over the line in the final couple of weeks of the window.

Martin has Ibrox connections, of course, but it doesn’t look like he will be giving us a help in hand with this one as he looks to keep hold of Whittaker.

Hopefully, the players’ wish to move helps this one along, but for now, all eyes are certainly on Ibrox.

In other Rangers news, the club are now fancying their chances of major a January transfer after Fabrizio Romano’s update with a move on the cards.
