Ibrox sources share Todd Cantwell to Rangers update as transfer news drops

Rangers are well-positioned in their transfer pursuit of Todd Cantwell but Ibrox sources have revealed the club have yet to begin “active” contract talks, according to the Daily Record.

The midfielder is out of contract in the summer and will be looking for a way out of Norwich this month with PSV Eindhoven also interested in the maestro.

The Gers will have to get a move on in ramping up their efforts for Cantwell to avoid any last-minute transfer blunders in the January window.

“Meanwhile, Rangers are well-positioned in the fight to land Norwich City’s Todd Cantwell,” as quoted by the Daily Record. (16 January)

“The midfielder is out of contract in the summer and won’t be staying at Carrow Road. Dutch side PSV Eindhoven have been linked with a move but Rangers are also in the hunt. Ibrox sources claim Rangers have still to begin active contract talks with Cantwell and his camp.”

Chance worth taking.

There’s no doubt that Cantwell’s form has taken a cliff dive in recent campaigns for Norwich and he’s looked far from the talent that that lighting up the Premier League a few years ago.

But this shouldn’t put Rangers off of a deal for the midfielder, it’s a risk worth taking and something suggests that Beale will be able to get the best out of him.

A clean slate at Ibrox may just be the perfect remedy to get Cantwell ticking again, especially under a head coach who is renowned for developing young talents.

Adding fuel to the fire, an in-form Cantwell is the exact type of midfielder Rangers need, a player who can break the lines between midfield and attack and sit just behind the striker for ultimate effect.

This transfer story seems more like a matter of when than if and even though Dutch giants PSV are showing interest, it’s likely that a move to Ibrox is only weeks or days away.

In other Rangers news, the Gers are expected to sign this “World Cup star” in January.
