Chris Jack shares Rangers transfer news as Morgan Whittaker impresses at Ibrox
Rangers have been left “impressed” when keeping tabs on Swansea City striker Morgan Whittaker as Michael Beale looks to bolster his squad in January, according to Chris Jack.
Whittaker, 22, has registered nine goals and six assists while on loan at League One high-flyers Plymouth Argyle this campaign but was recalled by his parent club this month.
According to the Scottish Sun [16 January], the Gers have tabled an offer worth £900,000, but the Welsh club want in the region of £2million to part ways with the highly-touted attacker.

And Rangers Review writer Jack outlined just how impressed Rangers were with the English attacker’s form this term.
He said: “The Ibrox boss has been open and honest about his desire to add to his squad this month following his appointment as Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s successor.
“And Herald and Times Sport understands Whittaker is a player that Rangers have been impressed with following an eye-catching first half of the campaign on loan at Plymouth Argyle.”

Step up
Whittaker looks to be a brilliant young talent and has been in red-hot form so far this campaign, so dangling the carrot for a move to Ibrox does make sense.
Beale would have known of Whittaker from his time managing in the Championship with QPR, while fans know of his willingness to trust in youth – so it wouldn’t be surprising to see Rangers wrap this up pretty quickly.
A move to Ibrox for Whittaker would be a massive step up, and whether he could make the grade is still questionable. Fighting at the top of League One and pushing for the SPL title are two completely different challenges, and there would be a heap of pressure if he moved north of the border.
For what looks like a meagre transfer fee, though, Beale would be silly not to offer the reported £2million that Swansea City want for their bright talent.
In other Rangers news, the Gers have tabled a six-figure bid to sign an in-demand English attacker, with the club wanting cash now.
