Todd Cantwell could arrive in Glasgow in Rangers transfer news on Monday
Rangers transfer target Todd Cantwell could “arrive in Glasgow” as talks between the two parties continue to escalate, according to Football Scotland.
The Gers are looking to strengthen their squad in Michael Beale’s first window as manager, and the versatile midfielder could be set for a three-year contract if a deal is finalised with Norwich City. [Scottish Sun]
Cantwell, 24, has fallen down the pecking order at Carrow Road this season, having failed to start a match since mid-October, and sees his contract at the Championship club expire in the summer.

Football Scotland believes the Gers could be another step closer to getting the signing over the line with the possible arrival of the playmaker in Scotland.
The report (Monday 16 January) said: “Giorgos Giakoumakis could leave Parkhead and he notched what could be his final goal in green and white this weekend. Todd Cantwell, meanwhile, could arrive in Glasgow at Gers with talks ongoing.”

Risks attached
Cantwell is undoubtedly a talented player, but fans cannot expect instant miracles if the deal is finalised this month.
The former England Under-21 international’s form has fallen off a cliff over the last two seasons after bursting onto the scene as a flamboyant teenager in the Premier League.
Whether he has had the mentality to push for excellence despite playing in the Championship is debatable, and hopefully, a fresh start at Ibrox can help him get his career back on track.
Working under Beale, who is notoriously good at developing players, it could prove to be a match made in heaven. If Cantwell can rediscover his form of old, he will provide an element of dynamism to Rangers’ team that is clearly lacking at the moment.
Either way, the coming months will be huge for the playmaker’s career. A failure to step up on the big stage at Ibrox could well prove terminal to his once burgeoning career.
