FCSB captain Darius Olaru could still be on Rangers radar after summer saga

FCSB midfielder Darius Olaru could still be a transfer target for Rangers after the Light Blues showed interest in the summer window, according to the Daily Record.

According to Romanian media outlet Pro Sport (17 August) the Gers were interested in the 24-year-old and were still eager to sign him late on in the transfer window.

Michael Beale is looking to add to his midfield options and the Romanian international could still be on the Gers’ radar in the January window.

Rangers

“Rangers were also linked with a move for Pitu and Hagi’s former Romania U21 teammate Darius Olaru back in the summer and he could be an option again as the Ibrox boss looks for midfield reinforcements,” wrote the Daily Record (15 January).

Needed

There are a number of older heads in the Gers’ midfield and Beale will be desperate to add some more reinforcements. Scott Arfield and Ryan Jack are in the latter stages of their career and Steven Davis has probably played his last game for the club.

A more youthful option will certainly be on the agenda for the new boss as he looks to reshape his squad ahead of the 2023/24 season. The Gers are yet to get going in the January window but have been linked with a number of players since the start of the month.

Rangers

Todd Cantwell is wanted by Beale, with the Norwich midfielder struggling in the first half of the season at Carrow Road. A move to Ibrox would seem like a good move for the 24-year-old. He needs a fresh start and perhaps moving out of England could be the making of the attack-minded midfielder.

In other Rangers news, the Gers are expected to sign this “World Cup star” in January.
