Todd Cantwell could sign three-year contract at Ibrox in Rangers transfer news

Norwich City playmaker Todd Cantwell could sign a three-year contract at Rangers as they close in on their first January transfer, according to the Scottish Sun.

The newspaper has reported on its website that a deal could be finalised and announced early next week after the ViaPlay Cup semi-final against Aberdeen.

Michael Beale has made it no secret that he is pushing for Cantwell, with a deal now moving ever closer with each passing day of the window this month.

Beale is also said to be tracking Everton midfielder Tom Davies as he clearly looks to use his connections south of the border throughout the English pyramid.

Cantwell has fallen out of favour at Carrow Road despite being their go-to man not so long ago, so this could be a real coup for Beale and the Bears.

Long term.

Rangers have had their fair share of contract issues at Ibrox, with the futures of Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos now on the line as their deals run out in the summer.

Securing transfers to longer-term deals would help stop that from happening, and gives Beale and his team the chance to evaluate the future of players midway through.

Cantwell will want to give everything to get his career back on track after falling out of favour in England, and there is no better place than Ibrox for that.

Joe Aribo was the perfect example of a success story after following that path from England to Glasgow, and there could be serious profit to be made, not that we’re thinking of selling him before he has even arrived.

With a deal potentially being finalised in a matter of days, it gives Ross Wilson plenty of time to work on other areas of the squad, with numerous deals definitely needed.

All eyes are on Ibrox.

In other Rangers news, the Gers are expected to sign this “World Cup star” in January.
