Rangers very keen on Cho Gue-sung as Everton and Leeds United offered transfer

Rangers are “keen” on signing South Korea striker Cho-Gue-sung this January but will face stiff competition from a host of Premier League clubs, including Everton and Leeds United, according to 90min.

Cho, 24, scored twice for his nation at the Qatar World Cup, grabbing both goals in a dramatic 3-2 defeat to Ghana in the group stages, whilst also netting 17 K League 1 goals in 2022 for his homeland side Jeonbuk Hyundai.

The striker’s form hasn’t gone unnoticed, and 90min believes he has been offered to a number of potential suitors as the South Korean side looks to cash in on their prized asset.

The report said: “In addition to Celtic and Rangers being keen to secure his services, 90min understands there has been some interest south of the border in England as well.

“Cho has been offered to Premier League trio Leeds, Everton and Southampton, as well as Championship duo Burnley and West Brom.”

Transfer battle

Michael Beale needs to strengthen his attacking reserves this January, and the 24-year-old seems a brilliant option as long as the club doesn’t get embroiled in a transfer saga.

Alfredo Morelos’s contract at Ibrox runs out in the summer, and is likely to part ways with the Scottish club, while Antonio Colak and Kemar Roofe are both injury-prone and cannot be trusted to play week in week out football.

This really leaves the Gers with few to no options in the future, and snapping the services of Cho in front of bitter rivals Celtic would sweeten the mood at Ibrox. Ross Wilson will need to be at his best to lure the forward to Rangers, however, with Premier League sides Everton and Leeds both in desperate need of attacking reinforcements.

In the end, the Gers might be outbid by one of these Premier League sides, and if this is the case, they must quickly move their attention away from the South Korean forward and nail their colours to a new flag.

In other Rangers news, a key update on two Gers transfer pursuits in the January window has emerged.
