Keith Jackson predicts winner of Rangers showdown v Aberdeen for Daily Record
Rangers will face Aberdeen in the Scottish League Cup on Sunday (15 January) at Hampden Park, and Keith Jackson feels the Bears will emerge as comfortable winners.
The Daily Record columnist (14 January, page 61) is impressed by the “winning mentality” shown by the Gers under Michael Beale and predicts a comfortable 2-0 win for the home side.
Fashion Sakala seems a player re-born under Beale, and Jackson expects the Gers to unleash all kinds of “chaos” on Aberdeen’s backline.

“Rangers are building momentum under Michael Beale and, perhaps even more importantly, are rediscovering a winning mentality,” wrote Jackson for The Daily Record.
“The new manager can’t afford a stumble at this point. And with Fashion Sakala’s pace to burn on a wide-open pitch, Rangers could unleash all kinds of chaos on Abderdeen’s backline.
“There looks like only one winner here. Rangers 2-0 Aberdeen.”
Momentum
Jackson is absolutely spot on here. When Beale took charge of the club, the Scottish giants were heading towards a downward spiral.
The results were poor. There was no identity of how the club wanted to play on the pitch. It was pedestrian with no imagination and creativity. Put simply, it was boring and the opposition found a way to counter it. However, the appointment of the new manager has brought a new fresh life at Ibrox, and the results have improved.
Initially, Beale simply focussed on getting three points without making any drastic changes. As they started to pick up wins on a regular basis, the confidence in the side grew.

Despite managing a 2-2 draw against Celtic, there were loads of positives from that game.
The result could have had an adverse effect but the Bears showed great mentality to follow up with a 2-0 win against Dundee United to keep the momentum going.
While the club are still riddled with a lot of problems and no one really knows what’s going to happen with Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent, Beale is quietly building a winning mentality in the side.
Hopefully, the Gers will maintain their impressive form and pick up a victory against the Dons on Sunday.
In other Rangers news, the Gers are expected to sign this “World Cup star” in January.
