Door could open for Rangers to sign Tom Davies after Frank Lampard admission
Frank Lampard has said that he would completely understand if Tom Davies wants to leave Everton, amid reported interest from Rangers in the January window.
According to the Fourth Official [9 January], there is interest from the Gers for Davies, but they have not yet made any official approach.
The 24-year-old has entered the final six months of his Everton contract, and Michael Beale was full of praise for the midfielder recently.

Liverpool Echo report on 14 January that the Toffees are “open to offers” for a number of players, and Davies could be one of them.
Frank Lampard has hailed him as a “fantastic” player and says that he understands that the midfielder needs regular football for his development.
“I’ve got a really good relationship with Davo, I think he is a fantastic lad,” said Lampard, as quoted by Liverpool Echo.
“He’s got a deep care for the club because of coming through here and being local etc so it’s a constant conversation between me and him, and the club obviously, but in terms of him being part of the squad this year then yeah, he is fully involved and he is a really good footballer and he is probably at a stage himself where he will go he wants to play, and I get that, at his age, it’s really important he plays.
“So that conversation I respect him, I respect where his contract is at but he knows I like him and I think we haven’t really got further than that but I will certainly be sitting down and keep talking to him throughout the season.”

Given his contract situation, Everton could be willing to do business this month.
Lampard understands that a player of his calibre should be playing regularly, be it at Everton or elsewhere. However, there is little progress at the moment over his contract situation.
This is an ideal opportunity for the Bears to lure him to move to Ibrox with an offer that the Toffees can’t refuse. Davies has struggled with injuries recently, but his best years are ahead of him.
He has got loads of Premier League experience and could be a valuable addition to the Bears squad. Davies needs to reflect on his next move and should look to get his confidence back by moving elsewhere.
The stylish midfielder can win trophies in Glasgow and could play in European football as well. A move to Ibrox should appeal to him, and most importantly Lampard probably won’t stand in his way (based on his comments), if he wants to move on.
The door could be open for Rangers to sign Davies after what Lampard has said, and the club should make a concrete effort to bring him to Ibrox this month.
In other Rangers news, Beale’s two-pronged January transfer pursuit has seen contrasting developments to it.
