Rangers in pursut of Belgian defender Noah Sadiki, ‘complicated’ situation could lead to Ibrox move

Rangers are keen on 18-year-old Anderlecht right-back Noah Sadiki along with Eredivisie side PSV Eindhoven, according to HLN.

The Belgium under-20 international is just one of a number of younger players Anderlecht are concerned about losing with Anouar Ait El Hadj and Julien Duranville also being linked with exits (HLN, 12 January).

It’s understood Rangers are interested in the versatile defender whose contract is set to expire in the summer of 2023 and that the situation at Anderlecht has been described as “complicated”.

Sadiki has played ten times for Anderlecht in the Jupiler League in the 2022/23 season and also featured in their Conference League defeat to West Ham United.

Prospect

The future is certainly looking bright for Rangers with there being a number of younger prospects coming through the ranks at Ibrox. Alex Lowry, Adam Devine and Zak Lovelace are just a few of the names who have been given first-team chances of late.

Furthermore, the club have acted to get a number of younger players tied down to longer-term contracts such as Robbie Ure and Leon King. If Sadiki did move to Ibrox, he would be a player who would be pushing to be involved in and around the first team.

He’s been given opportunities in Belgium and looks to be trusted within the first-team environment. Considering the finances at Rangers, this move does make sense. He’s out of contract in the summer which could allow the board to land a pre-contract agreement with the 18-year-old.

His ability to play along the back line and in midfield makes him an attractive proposition and one the Gers should certainly look to pursue.

In other Rangers news, the Gers are expected to sign this “World Cup star” in January.
