James Tavernier shares transfer verdict at Rangers as Todd Cantwell in advanced talks to sign

James Tavernier has suggested that Rangers need to add quality players to the side amid the Gers’ reported interest in Norwich City winger Todd Cantwell and Everton midfielder Tom Davies.

The Gers skipper joked that he didn’t know a friend of a friend of the Norwich winger and that he will probably find it out on Sky Sports.

The Bears are in advanced talks to sign Cantwell [Fourth Official,9 January], but he is also available to sign a pre-contract with the Scottish club this month.

The Bears are also linked with Davies this month. Fourth Official [9 January], reported that the Bears are heavily interested in him but they have not yet made any official approach, as of now.

“I don’t unfortunately! Obviously, they’re rumoured players but I’ll probably have to wait for Sky Sports to find out,” said Tavernier, as quoted by Daily Record.

“We are always looking to add quality to the team and improve it. We’re all football people and everyone is trying to do business and improve their teams. That’s what we’re trying to do. Just add that quality. As a player and a captain, you always welcome that. You always want to improve the team and hopefully we can get a few players.”

Great signing

Cantrell will be a superb addition to the squad this month.

The 24-year-old is an exceptional talent who could be looking to leave the club this month.

The Sun reported on 11 January that David Wagner is looking to sanction Cantwell’s exit and the Canaries want to add new faces. At the same time, the Bears will have to throw some decent transfer fee to bring him to Ibrox.

After spending long years at Carrow Road, he is looking to play elsewhere. To be honest, his career has taken a downward turn in recent years, and a change of scenery will work wonders for him.

Rangers

He proved his quality for Norwich when they were in the Premier League.

Rangers are determined to hold on to Ryan Kent who has only a few months left on his deal, but Cantwell would still be a terrific addition.

Likewise, Davies would be a superb signing as well. He has made over 160 appearances for the Toffees and has proved himself as a proper Premier League midfielder.

In other Rangers news, a bid has been rejected as the Gers chase another target who appears to be headed straight towards the exit door, according to Sky Sports.
