We’re delighted to welcome Tam McManus as our exclusive Rangers columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Ibrox

Tam McManus doesn’t expect to see Alfredo Morelos leave Rangers this month, instead tipping the striker to wait until the summer when his contract expires.

Morelos, 26, is out of contract at the end of the season with it looking unlikely that he’ll be offered fresh terms by the Scottish Premiership giants.

According to Mexican news outlet El Porvenir, Liga MX club Tigres UANL are in the hunt to sign Morelos and are willing to make an offer for him if they’re unable to sign their main striker targets.

However, McManus doesn’t believe the Colombia international will be joining Tigres this month.

He claims it’s more likely that the ex-HJK striker will wait out his contract and leave on a free transfer when the season is over.

Speaking to Ibrox News, McManus said: “I think he’ll be gone.

Rangers have done great for signing him for £1million. If you look at what he’s done, he’s been a key goalscorer in Europe and he’s given great service.

But I think his best years may be behind him. That’s difficult when you’re only 26.

If he was going to sign a new contract, he’d have done it a long time ago so I think he’s just letting it run down.

I’d be surprised if he moves in this window unless it’s to a big club and it’s a good move for him.

He’ll take his chances on a free at the end of the season.”

Morelos has scored five goals in 25 appearances across all competitions and has faced major criticism for his fitness, professionalism and his form on the pitch.

Tigres are one of Mexico’s most successful clubs, winning seven Liga MX titles and the 2020 Concacaf Champions League.

In other Rangers news, the Gers are expected to sign this “World Cup star” in January.
