Rangers target Cho Gue-sung confirms desire to move abroad

Rangers could be put on high alert along with Celtic and Mainz as Cho Gue-sung has confirmed his intention to move abroad.

The South Korea international is currently plying his trade at Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors and is now the talk of the town post the World Cup.

He has even confirmed being in touch with Mainz over a move but is open to considering a transfer either in January or the summer.

He told Korean media outlet Naver, “All players will want to go out the same when such a good opportunity comes. If I don’t go in the winter, the teams may not want me now in the summer, and the ransom may drop.

“I’m thinking about how best to do it. I think everyone would want to experience and compete abroad.”

According to Football Scotland [9 January], Gers are keeping an eye on the South Korea international, 24, and are joined by Celtic in the race.

It’s even believed that Mainz want to sign him, but recent reports have hinted at them perhaps cooling their interest in him.

This leaves it to be a two-way transfer battle between Rangers and Celtic and if the former are to secure his services, they’ve got to act soon.

The South Korean has issued a come out and get me plea in a way and it’s now down to which team is able to conjure up the money.

Rangers would hate to see Celtic stealing their transfer target and that’s probably why it’s time to initiate talks with the players’ representatives.
