Tigres want to sign Alfredo Morelos from Rangers as they plot ‘important bid’
Mexican giants Tigres want to sign Alfredo Morelos from Rangers if they’re unable to secure the signing of Rafael Borre, according to El Porvenir.
Th seven-time Mexican champions are in the market for a striker and have made a bid for Eintracht Frankfurt forward Borre worth up to £9.7m.
However should a deal not materialise, they have identified Ibrox star Morelos as a potential alternative and are ready to make an “important bid” to take the Colombian in January.

“It should be noted that in addition to Borré, Tigres has as its second option the Argentine Mateo Retegui from Tigre from Argentina and the third is the Colombian Alfredo Morelos from Rangers from Scotland,” they wrote (10 January).
“These two footballers being others of interest and for whom they would make important offers to sign one if they fail to close the incorporation of Rafael Santos.”
Decision
Should this important offer materialise from Tigres, then Rangers and Morelos will have some big decisions to make this month.
It’s clear that Rangers want Morelos to stick around beyond his current contract, which expires at the end of the season, with Michael Beale viewing him as the first-choice striker.

But Morelos has flirted with an exit for several years, wanting to play in Europe’s top leagues to test himself and show his talents. But those clubs don’t seem to be interested this time around, despite bids being made in the past.
Tigres are a top side in South America and if they have almost £10m to splash on a transfer then they will surely have enough to convince him to join when it comes to wages.
It will be interesting to see if this materialises and how much they’re willing to offer for Morelos, because if it’s a big bid then Rangers will have to accept because they can’t afford to lose Morelos for free in the summer instead.
