Norwich made £1.5m decision on Todd Cantwell bid as Rangers hunt January transfer deal

Norwich City have rejected a £1.5million bid from Blackburn Rovers for Todd Cantwell as Rangers remain in the hunt for the midfielder, according to The Sun.

It’s understood the Canaries are willing to listen to offers for the 24-year-old and that Rovers had targeted him to help their Championship promotion bid.

The Sun report (11 January) new boss David Wagner is looking to sanction Cantwell’s exit in January to make room in his squad for new signings.

Rangers

The 4th Official suggest (10 January) the Light Blues could make a bid for the attacking midfielder “relatively shortly” with talks ongoing with the Championship side.

Heating up

This is a move the Gers really need to get a move on with if they want to stand a genuine chance of signing Cantwell. He’s clearly a man in demand and sadly for the Scottish giants the money in England could price them out of a deal for the 24-year-old.

A move to Ibrox does look like a good fit for the midfielder who has seen his career take a downward turn since a move to Liverpool failed to materialise in the 2022 January window. For whatever reason, he needs a fresh challenge and the Gers could provide an excellent platform for Cantwell to get his career back on track.

Rangers

He’s a Premier League calibre player and would be more than capable of making a significant impact north of the border. Michael Beale is exactly the type of manager who could get the best out of the Norwich midfielder, and the board should now be looking to act fast to get a move finalised for Cantwell.

In other Rangers news, a bid has been rejected as the Gers chase another target who appears to be headed straight towards the exit door, according to Sky Sports.
