Celtic make multi-million bid as they leapfrog Rangers in race to sign Cho Gue-sung

Celtic have reportedly submitted an offer close to £3million in order to secure the services of Rangers-linked Cho Gue-sung.

According to Football Scotland [9 January], Gers are keeping an eye on the South Korea international, 24, but have not yet lodged an official bid.

With Celtic’s offer, they remain in pole position to secure the World Cup striker’s services who appears destined to leave Mainz for a European club this month.

Hinges on Morelos

It’s about time Rangers and Alfredo Morelos decide on what the plan is going to be for this month and the next six months.

Rather than letting him run out his contract and then leave for free, it’s best if the club make some money from his sale.

Michael Beale is an admirer of the Colombian but knows that it’s fruitless in holding on to a player that does not have his heart at playing for the club.

Selling him this month would free up some additional funds that they could then use on securing a replacement for Morelos.

Gue-sung looks to be a decent option but it remains to be seen whether or not the Bundesliga club will spark a bidding war.

Pitting the two rivals against each other would be ideal for Mainz to make the most money from his sale and it’s imperative that Rangers do not fall into that trap.

In other Rangers news, the club are now fancying their chances of major a January transfer after Fabrizio Romano’s update with a move on the cards.
