Sky Sports pundit drops ‘raging’ verdict on key Rangers VAR decision in win v Dundee United
Sky Sports pundit Sean Dillon believes it was the correct decision to not award Dundee United a penalty in the first half of their Scottish Premiership clash against Rangers.
The ball appeared to strike the arm of Connor Goldson after a corner from the home side in the 24th minute of the clash at Tannadice. VAR took a brief look at the incident but opted not to act.
The 30-year-old’s arm appeared to be by his side and former Dundee United defender Dillon has suggested he would be “raging” if it was given against him.

“If that was given against me, I would be raging if that was my hand it would’ve hit. I don’t know what else to say about it because there doesn’t seem to be any consistency across the board,” said Dillon (Sky Sports coverage, 4:54, 8 January).
Impressive
It was a really impressive second-half performance from Michael Beale’s side after failing to find their feet in the first period. The halftime decision to throw Alfredo Morelos into the action proved to be an inspired decision from the Light Blues’ boss.
The Colombian was a physical presence and cause the Dundee United defenders all sorts of problems after being introduced into the action. He allowed the likes of Malik Tillman and Ryan Kent to operate far closer to the goal and impact the game in an attacking sense.

Since his arrival, Beale has made a habit of making clever substitutions to influence the game. It’s refreshing for a manager to be proactive instead of reactive when it comes to changing the outcome of a game.
It was important for the Gers to build on the positive performance in the Old Firm Derby and ensure they keep some sort of pressure on their fierce rivals.
In other Rangers news, the Gers are expected to sign this “World Cup star” in January.
