Ridvan Yilmaz visits Besiktas training amid Rangers injury problems

Ridvan Yilmaz has visited his former side Besiktas as he tries to come back to fitness for Rangers, according to Turkish media outlet Takvim.

The 21-year-old has spent the majority of his time at Ibrox on the treatment table having failed to force his way into the side ahead of Croatian Borna Barisic.

Michael Beale has allowed him time to go home to Turkey as he recovers from his latest setback and he took the opportunity to revisit his former club as a result.

He left the Vodafone Park in the summer as the final signing of the Giovanni van Bronckhorst era but there had been talk of a return to Turkey on loan.

Fanatik reported on 14 October that Trabzonspor were keen on a January loan deal while Takvim [9 October] say that Galatasaray are also keen on the Turkish international.

Constant

Yilmaz has only been at the club for a handful of months but there has seemed to be some constant problems that he can’t get over and it is not helping Rangers’ cause in any competition.

There were some good days in the Champions League, even though the club failed to avoid defeat in all six matches, but he soon found himself on the treatment table again.

Rangers

He couldn’t even get himself fit to take advantage of Croatia’s run in the World Cup and Barisic’s subsequent late return to Auchenhowie in December.

He can’t expect to go on to have a great career at Rangers if he can’t shake off these constant knocks and bangs and if a trip back to Turkey is what it takes for that to end then it has to be done.

A loan wouldn’t be the worst move for him at this stage, if Beale thinks he has enough cover, but the club can’t wait forever for him to fulfil his potential.

In other Rangers news, Calvin Bassey was shocked when he first turned up at Ibrox and he carried it with him throughout his time in Glasgow.
