Rangers hold transfer talks with three players ahead of potential Ibrox moves

Michael Beale has spent the past week holding meetings with “two or three” transfer targets as the Rangers boss looks to kickstart his January business.

The Gers have been linked with a number of players in the lead-up to the window opening with St Mirren midfielder Keanu Baccus one of the latest names rumoured to be heading to Ibrox (Scottish Sun, 29 December).

The Athletic’s Jordan Campbell has since revealed Beale has held meetings with a number of players, with the former QPR boss looking for players who can perform a “specific job”.

“Beale says this week has been spent meeting 2/3 potential signings to tell them what he wants,” wrote Campbell (personal Twitter account, 6 January).

“He Doesn’t want to sign anyone without meeting them as he wants people to come in and do a specific job. Three or four right additions can ‘pull everything in the right direction’.”

Movement

It’s evident there will be some incomings at Ibrox over the next month and Rangers fans should potentially stay close to their phones after hearing talks with potential targets have taken place.

Beale isn’t just looking for the right player, he’s also looking for the right personality who will be able to take handle the pressure of representing a club the size of Rangers.

It would not be a shock in the slightest to see one of these discussions escalate into a move in the coming weeks. The 42-year-old could look to add another midfielder to his ranks, with there currently a number of older heads currently occupying the centre of the park. Furthermore, Steven Davis is likely to have played his last game for the club after suffering a season-ending injury.

A striker will also be on the agenda with Alfredo Morelos and Kemar Roofe both facing slightly clouded futures. Antonio Colak will be a mainstay for the coming years but added competition is certainly required.

In other Rangers news, one Ibrox favourite is nearing a return to action but his relative has asked fans to be patient as he tries to rediscover his best form.
