Rangers urged to bring back Sheffield United midfielder John Fleck to Ibrox
Rangers have been urged by Kris Boyd to bring Sheffield United midfielder John Fleck back to Ibrox in the January transfer window.
Boyd believes that he’s not the same player as the one that left the club little over a decade ago and will be a valuable addition to the side.
The Scotland international, 31, is currently plying his trade in the EFL Championship and Michael Beale has addressed the need of a midfielder this month.

Boyd told Sky Sports, via Scottish Sun: “I think Michael Beale has spoken about it that the central midfield area is one he wants to strengthen. He’s lost Stevie Davis and it’s not ideal but I wouldn’t be rushing in and just grabbing players for the sake of it, especially in January.
“There’s players out of contract and I think the obvious one for me would be John Fleck at Sheffield United. Michael Beale has spoken about it like I’ve said before and I think John has been at Rangers before and knows and has been brought up on it.
“He is a different player from the one that left Rangers but people like that would be on my radar.”
Interesting
Fleck is now 31, but still has a few good years left to offer and fans would not be against signing him if the club’s getting a good deal.
If he’s out of contract in the summer and is not keen on signing a new deal then January is the last window for the Blades to get something for his services.
They will be willing to sell him at a discount as getting some money is better than letting him on a free and they’re smart enough to do a good deal.

Fleck has been labelled “outstanding” by the Athletic in 2020 back when he was in the Premier League and he’s still a talented midfield player.
Rangers have turned to Sheffield United once when they signed John Lundstram and would not mind doing that again.
They need at least two or three new signings in the window and if Fleck is one of them, it would be a signal of intent, but it won’t be a job fully done as there still is more left to do.
In other Rangers news, the club are now fancying their chances of major a January transfer after Fabrizio Romano’s update with a move on the cards.
