Rangers to keep an eye on Lawrence Shankland amid sensational season – Barry Ferguson
Barry Ferguson believes Michael Beale and Rangers should be looking at signing Hearts striker Lawrence Shankland in the January transfer window.
The 27-year-old is currently the joint top-goalscorer in the Premiership with 15 goals to his name having joined the Jam Tarts in 2022.
Ferguson thinks the Light Blues are in need of another goalscorer themselves with Alfredo Morelos’ contract up soon and Kemar Roofe not cutting the mustard.

“18 goals including the cups, what a return that is,” Ferguson said to Go Radio. “He knows where the back of the net is. He does the hardest part of the game, no doubt about it. He’s a player I love to see.
“I think he’s been a brilliant signing for Hearts. He’s one that I’m sure Rangers will be keeping an eye on because goalscorers are hard to find.
“One thing Lawrence Shankland can do in the Scottish league is put the ball in the back of the net and that’s been proven this season. It’s a brilliant return.”
Temporary
Shankland has been in very good form this season but playing for Rangers and playing for Hearts are two totally different propositions altogether.
The pressure to score important goals and a lot of them at Ibrox is far higher than anything he will have faced at Tynecastle and there are no guarantees that he could manage it.

Antonio Colak must be wondering what he has done wrong to insult Beale right now after being such a prolific outlet under Giovanni van Bronckhorst since signing from PAOK in Greece.
The Croatian should be getting the chance to prove to the new boss that he can carry on his early-season form but Beale appears adamant to not give him that opportunity.
Shankland could easily end up in the same boat of sitting on the bench all the time and that won’t be a good move for any party, let alone the player himself.
In other Rangers news, Ibrox fans must be loving this player right now and footage that emerged recently will only serve to increase that love.
