Andy Walker and Ally McCoist destroy Alfredo Morelos for Rangers v Celtic on Sky Sports
Sky Sports commentary duo Andy Walker and Ally McCoist couldn’t believe what they saw Rangers forward Alfredo Morelos do in the opening minutes of the Old Firm clash v Celtic.
Morelos lazily misplaced a pass which was intercepted by Celtic attacker Daizen Maeda who took the ball forward and calmly slotted it home for the opener.
Walker and McCoist were disgusted by the “slack” and “sloppy” piece of play from Morelos, one which cost Rangers dearly straight away.

“Morelos, who gives it away, so slack and sloppy in the middle of the park,” said Walker live on Sky Sports [2 January, 12:38].
“It’s a poor ball from Morelos, really poor,” replied McCoist.

Shocking.
Just as you think Morelos is turning a corner in fortunes for Rangers he goes and does something like this and in an Old Firm of all matches.
There’s no excuse for misplacing a pass like that, one so early on which gave Celtic a free lead and left his team with absolutely everything to do.
The mood in Ibrox changed completely after that goal and frustration could be sensed throughout the first 45 minutes, something which translated onto the pitch.
Rangers were extremely quiet, not something you’d have expected with the game being at home and under the guidance of Michael Beale.
The Gers have it all to do now in the second half and the game feels like an uphill struggle because of the costly mistake from Morelos.
Surely things can only get better for the Light Blues from here? An increase in intensity and attitude is needed in the second half to salvage any Scottish Premiership title aspirations.
In other Rangers news, a supercomputer has been crunching the numbers to predict a vital must-win game for Beale against Celtic.
