Ally McCoist tears into ‘lazy’ Rangers trio v Celtic live on Sky Sports
Ally McCoist was left astounded by three “lazy” Rangers players, who failed to impress in the early stages of the Old Firm Derby against Celtic, live on Sky Sports.
The Gers started on the back foot and were second-best to the Hoops in the early exchanges, with Daizen Maeda netting after just five minutes.
As Michael Beale’s side tried to steady themselves, a simple goal kick from Allan McGregor left McCoist tearing his hair out, as Malik Tillman, Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos all ambled back from offside positions, gifting possession back to Celtic.

Commentating live on Sky Sports (Monday 2 January), the pundit ripped into the attacking trio following their “lazy” tracking back.
He said: “See, that’s a problem right there. Tillman, Morelos, Kent, lazy, very lazy.
“The ball comes back to McGregor, it gets kicked up, and the three of them are all in an offside position. You have to get back onside.”

Sloppy
In a match of the Old Firm’s magnitude, you would expect the Gers to be ready and raring to go. However, this was not the case. A slow, sloppy, and altogether terrible start gifted Celtic an early advantage, and fans couldn’t believe what they were watching at times.
Morelos was, in particular, to blame for the opening goal, as he gifted possession away far too easily in his own half before Maeda ran in on goal and opened the scoring.
Even though a small moment, McCoist was right to call out the Rangers’ front line for their lack of work rate. As he kicked the ball long, Celtic managed to mount a dangerous attack due to their inability to compete for possession on the halfway line.
Beale would have torn into his team at half-time following the lazy play, despite growing back into the game as the game wore on. You can’t gift quality side’s like Celtic an early lead such as this. It’s criminal.
In other Rangers news, there is some very encouraging injury news regarding this Auchenhowie man after a turbulent year in Glasgow.
