Ally McCoist lauds ‘absolutely sublime’ Ryan Kent after ‘magnificent’ goal in Rangers draw v Celtic

Ally McCoist and Andy Walker absolutely loved what they saw from Ryan Kent as he scored the equaliser in Rangers 2-2 draw with Celtic.

The Gers found themselves 1-0 down after just four minutes, before goals from Kent and James Tavernier in the opening six minutes of the second half gave them the lead. Kyogo got a late equaliser for the visitors as they shared the points on the day.

But it was the finish from Kent that got the commentary duo of McCoist and Walker off their feet, with the Sky Sports pair not shy to praise the 25-year-old winger for his goal.

“Take nothing away from the finish,” McCoist said on commentary [2 January, 13:37].

“You mentioned Ian, Rangers want Kent on the ball. He drops his shoulder and the finish is absolutely sublime. That finish is nothing short of magnificent. Game on.”

“Worst possible start to the second half for Celtic, but it is down to the quality of Sakala,” Walker added.

“His pace, his awareness. And the finish from Ryan Kent is magnificent.”

Brilliant

That goal and performance from Kent is exactly the reason why fans want to see him re-sign his contract at the club and commit to staying in the future beyond the summer.

When he is on it he is one of the best and most exciting players in the country and has the quality to turn games on their head and gives Rangers a constant outlet.

HIs goals and assist numbers have been disappointing this season, but his quality hasn’t disappeared and the quicker the club can sort his future out the better it will be for everyone.

The praise he got from McCoist and Walker shows you how highly they rated the goal, and his performance matched it as the best Rangers player on the park.

Sakala’s role was excellent too, and he is showing why Beale has placed so much belief in him since his return, and he’s rewarding the boss with great performances too.
