Michael Beale trusts Adam Devine despite Rangers decision – pundit

We’re delighted to welcome Tam McManus as our exclusive Rangers columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Ibrox

Adam Devine left an impression on Michael Beale when standing in at left-back for Rangers, according to Tam McManus.

Devine, 19, stepped in to play at left back against Hibernian, Aberdeen and Ross County as Barisic, 30, rested following a World Cup campaign with Croatia that yielded a bronze medal.

Young Devine impressed as the Gers won all three of the games he started, even though he’s naturally a right-back.

Ridvan Yilmaz, Barisic’s back-up, is currently injured, leaving Beale short of options at left-back.

But McManus believes that Devine has shown the Gers manager that he’s more than capable of filling in at left-back if he was needed to again.

“He’s done well,” McManus told Ibrox News when speaking about Devine.

It’s always good to see a young player come into the team and do well.

Obviously, Barisic came back in after coming back from the World Cup.

He’s a very good full-back who’s an experienced international.

He’s back in now he’s ready but Devine has shown he can be trusted.

That’s all you can do. Come in, do well and show that you can be thrown in again if anything happens to Barisic.

He did well.”

Barisic returned to the starting line-up for the 3-0 win over Motherwell on Wednesday (28 December).

He’s expected to stay in the side for the Old Firm meeting with Celtic on Monday (2 January).
