Journalist drops damning verdict after Rangers development in past 24 hours

The Guardian journalist Ewan Murray has been left baffled by a decision made by St. Johnstone in the club’s Scottish Cup clash against Rangers.

The Scottish Premiership club announced their decision to give Rangers fans three stands for the fixture alongside a steep ticket price of £30.

Murray reacted to the news on Twitter with a puzzled “dear me”, questioning St. Johnstone’s high ticket price considering they’ve given away three stands.

“£30 and by the way we are giving the away club three stands. Dear me,” said the journalist on Twitter.

It seems the decision by St. Johnstone has outraged many of their fans, with an uproar of abuse being directed at the club on Twitter.

The Scottish Cup is an annual knockout football competition contested by clubs in Scotland. It is the oldest national cup competition in the world, having first been played in 1873.

It’s a competition organised by the Scottish Football Association (SFA) and is open to all clubs that are members of the SFA.

This could be the perfect opportunity for Rangers and Beale to secure some silverware this campaign and the Gers seem to have been handed a lovely advantage in their tie against St. Johnstone.

Albeit at the expense of their support, it isn’t really fair to do that to fans, especially ones who have worked hard to earn money to pay for a ticket.

With luck, the backlash on Twitter will push the club into reversing their decision, sometimes this is what is needed to shove it to the money men at the club.

Rangers will take on St. Johnstone on 21 January in the fourth round of the cup competition, in what now promises to be a feisty affair.
