Robbie McCrorie concerned as Rangers target Manchester City goalkeeper James Trafford

Rangers are tracking Manchester City goalkeeper James Trafford – and that will surely leave Robbie McCrorie concerned after committing his future to the club.

The 24-year-old signed a new contract in October to keep him at the club until 2025. After committing his future to the club, McCrorie would’ve naturally assumed he would be in contention to be the Gers’ number one or two in the coming seasons.

However, the Light Blues have instead been linked with Trafford, who is currently on loan with League One side Bolton Wanderers.

The Daily Mail suggest (30 December) Michael Beale is targeting the 20-year-old as a replacement for Allan McGregor, who is almost certainly playing his last season of professional football. Trafford is understood to have caught the eye of those at Ibrox, as the club look to add a younger dimension to their squad.

With Jon McLaughlin also on their books, this could well come as a worry for McCrorie. He’s at an age where he will be looking to start playing regular first-team football at an important time in his career. If the Gers do add a new goalkeeper to their ranks, then it will almost certainly have an impact on McCrorie and the game time which is was set to be offered at Ibrox.

The 24-year-old signed his new deal when van Bronckhorst was in charge at the club, and he could now be facing an uncertain short-term future if Beale lands the goalkeeping targets which he is after. The Light Blues are also targeting a move for Everton’s veteran goalkeeper Asmir Begovic (talkSPORT’s Alex Crook, 29 December).
