Rangers want Asmir Begovic from Everton as Ibrox transfer news emerges

Rangers are looking at signing goalkeeper Asmir Begovic from Everton this summer, according to Journalist Alex Crook.

With veteran goalkeeper Allan McGregor nearing the end of his Rangers contract a move for a new shot-stopper this summer makes a lot of sense.

Crook confessed that Begovic is a summer “target” for the Gers who will be looking to reinvent their squad under new head coach Micahel Beale.

“Everton goalkeeper Asmir Begovic is a summer transfer target for Rangers,” revealed Crook on Twitter.

Classy resume.

Begovic began his professional career with FK Zeljeznicar in Bosnia and Herzegovina before moving to Portsmouth in the English Premier League in 2010.

He spent four seasons with Portsmouth before joining Chelsea in 2015. During his time at Chelsea, he served as the team’s backup goalkeeper and won the Premier League and the League Cup.

In 2017, he joined AFC Bournemouth, where he played for three seasons before moving to AC Milan in 2020.

This wealth of experience between the sticks is exactly what Rangers need and Begovic has proven time and time again that he is a safe pair of gloves to trust in his 256 Premier League appearances.

McGregor has at times been great for Rangers, but every fan can agree that it is probably time for the veteran shot-stopper to leave Ibrox for a new challenge.

With luck, Beale can get this one over the line in the summer, it’s nice to see the club being linked with new classy talents, the summer window is going to be an exciting one.
