BBC Sportscene pundit reacts to Alex Lowry footage in Rangers win v Motherwell
BBC Sportscene pundit Stuart Kettlewell has reacted to footage of Alex Lowry in Rangers’ win over Motherwell as he finally got his chance.
Lowry got the nod to start for Gers on the evening in what may be a look into the future of the Rangers engine room under Michael Beale.
Kettlewell confessed that Lowry’s enthusiasm sometimes takes him “too far” beyond the ball when he can try and receive it, but admitted the youngster is a talent.

“There’s no doubt this lads a talent, a couple of times we were saying that his enthusiasm’s maybe taken him too far beyond the ball when he can try and receive it,” said the pundit on BBC Sportscene.
“A wee example that it shows there. And here he watches the build-up, he gets the timing slightly better and he fashions a pretty decent chance for himself.”

Improvement.
Lowry’s a solid weapon for Beale to utilise in the coming months, in a Rangers midfield that lacks players who can run with the ball and make a breaking pass, the youngster is the opposite.
Fans were calling for Lowry to be given a chance and they got their post-Christmas wish, hopefully, he can start to feature more often for Beale.
At times the youngster struggled to get himself into the game, but it felt like a performance where there is a lot more to come.
And he’ll need to be given time to settle into first-team football, it’s tough for a youngster to come in and hit the ground running at Ibrox.
The Key for Lowry now is to build on this performance, it wasn’t the best but by no means was it a complete shocker, there were plenty of positives to take moving forward.
It’s the Old Firm next for Rangers, an occasion that might be too big for the 19-year-old to start in, with luck, he’ll manage to get some minutes on January 2.
In other Rangers news, the club are now fancying their chances of major a January transfer after Fabrizio Romano’s update with a move on the cards.
