BBC Scotland journalist mocks Ryan Kent as Rangers win v Motherwell

Rangers ace Ryan Kent was mocked by journalist Kheredine Idessane following an embarrassing moment in Wednesday night’s Scottish Premiership clash against Motherwell.

Coming into the game on the back of three straight wins, Michael Beale gave the 26-year-old a vote of confidence by allowing him to play a central, creative role in his starting XI.

However, the Gers ace was left looking on in bemusement as he attempted to shift the play across the field just before half-time and miskicked the ball in a quite remarkable fashion.

Rangers

BBC Scotland journalist Idessane didn’t hold back in his assessment when writing for the BBC Sport website (Wednesday 28 December).

He said: “Just as he was starting to look right in the mood, Ryan Kent does what you and I might do on a Sunday morning and completely miskicks his attempted cross-field pass right out of play for a throw-in to Motherwell. Oopsy.”

Freedom

Despite making a hash of this particular pass against Motherwell, Kent’s freedom to roam in the final third will please Rangers fans greatly.

Under predecessor Giovanni van Bronckhorst, the attacker was left isolated on the right wing for large portions of games and couldn’t influence matches as fans know he could.

However, as soon as Beale arrived at the Glasgow club last month, Kent looked a man possessed – and has since been given the freedom to create chances wherever he deems fit.

Kent has been allowed the freedom to use his power and guile to cause SPL defences problems, and coming inside from the wing, he has proved himself a real handful.

In this case, you would rather Kent attempt a tough pass than back out of it due to a lack of confidence, and supporters will hope Kent can continue to move from strength to strength in the new Beale era.

In other Rangers news, an Ibrox legend has praised one man playing out of position under Beale while criticising another.
