Alex Lowry poor as Malik Tillman stars – Rangers player ratings v Motherwell
Rangers continued their 100 per cent record under Michael Beale as goals from Malik Tillman, Alfredo Morelos and Connor Goldson saw the Gers cruise to a 3-0 win over Motherwell.
Morelos opened the scoring for the Gers after a pinpoint delivery from Borna Barisic in the 13th minute. The Croatian full-back repeated the trick in the 39th minute to set up Goldson to double the Light Blues’ lead.
Tillman rounded off the scoring in the 63rd minute after finding a yard of space and firing past Liam Kelly after good work from Morelos. Here Ibrox News rates the players’ performance out of ten after the win at Ibrox.

Allan McGregor – 6
Should have claimed a first-half cross which was fired across the six-yard box. However, he made a good decision to rush out of his goal to clear a one-on-one situation early on in the fixture at Ibrox.
Borna Barisic – 8
Exquisite cross for Morelos’ opening goal and his delivery was spot on throughout the clash against Steven Hammell’s side. Motherwell were breaking quickly and the Croatian was solid defensively. Made a vital block in the first half and also registered another assist for Goldson’s header. Looks rejuvenated after the World Cup.
Ben Davies – 8
Excellent performance from the summer signing, who was imperious at the centre of the Light Blues’ defence. Managed to stifle all Motherwell through at him and made some vital blocks and interceptions. Read the game so well and always seemed to be a step ahead of the opposition players.

Connor Goldson – 6
Terrific header that doubled the Gers’ lead in the first half. Motherwell did pose a threat going forward and Goldson stood up well when asked, specifically in the first half. Looked to break the lines with his passing and helped start a number of promising moments in an attacking sense.
James Tavernier – 6
Much better than Tavernier who put in a solid performance. Looked to get the ball into Tillman’s feet as much as possible and rarely misplaced a pass. Would’ve liked to have got forward slightly more during the second half. Sensible and composed display from the Rangers skipper.
John Lundstram – 4
The ex-Sheffield United midfielder lost possession a couple of times in the first half and didn’t keep the game moving as he should have. Failed to muster too many opportunities for himself, partly down to Motherwell filling the box with a lot of players. Booked in the second half after losing the ball softly. Much better suited to driving forward in midfield. Not his best night’s work.

Ryan Jack – 6
A solid display from Jack who made sure the defence was protected at all times. Kept things moving in midfield. Nothing spectacular from the 30-year-old, but didn’t put a foot wrong.
Alex Lowry – 4
Had some good moments on the ball, but has to work slightly harder when not in possession. Showed great composure at times, but has to perform consistently throughout the 90 minutes. Definitely areas of his game to improve on for the attacker. A reality check for the Rangers youngster.
Malik Tillman – 9 (Man of the match)
Pick of the Gers’ attackers. Showed some magical moments in and around the box and nearly provided a sensational assist for Morelos in the first half. He’s excelling in a more central role and certainly has the intelligence to create plenty of chances for Beale’s side. Must ensure he maintains this level of confidence and creativity against Celtic in their next Scottish Premiership fixture. Was a superb finish through the defender’s legs after being set up by Morelos.

Ryan Kent – 6
Wasn’t quite at it tonight after impressing in recent weeks. Couldn’t quite get into the game as much as he has since Beale has taken charge. He has been effective drifting inside from a wide position but sometimes it’s important to remain out wide to receive the ball more often. Was more effective in the second half when he drifted across the front line.
Alfredo Morelos – 8
Had some really clever touches in and around the box and linked up well with Tillman at times. Performing well at the moment and should certainly be starting against Celtic on 2 January. A goal and an assist is represents a positive night’s work from the striker.
Fashion Sakala (on for Lowry, 66′) – 5
Adam Devine (on for Tavernier, 66′) – 6
Glen Kamara (on for Lundstram, 66′) – 5
James Sands (on for Jack, 66′) – 5
Rabbi Matondo (on fore Morelos, 70′) – 4
In other Rangers news, the club are now fancying their chances of major a January transfer after Fabrizio Romano’s update with a move on the cards.
