Kai Kennedy set to sign pre-contract to exit Rangers in January, Michael Beale is big fan
Kai Kennedy is currently considering his options ahead of signing a pre-contract in January ahead of leaving Rangers, according to Football Scotland.
The online outlet has reported on its website that English and Scottish clubs are lining up ahead of a move, making their interest known early ahead of a 2023 move.
Michael Beale is said to be a big fan of the young winger but a fresh start is said to be the best option for a player who has been plagued by injuries.
Kennedy may be only considering options, but he is expected to agree fully on his next move in January, with the window opening in a matter of days.
The young attacker made his debut at Ibrox under Steven Gerrard on the same night as Nathan Patterson, but their careers have gone down different paths since.
With clubs in England and Scotland lining up, there could be plenty of talks set to take place, none of those set to be over a new contract with Beale and the Bears.
Time.
This is the right time, with plenty of moves likely on the table.
Kennedy has seen his career crash over the years with his numerous loan moves to the lower leagues in Scotland, with some of Europe’s biggest names once interested.
The Daily Record reported back in 2020 that Manchester City and Bayern Munich were on red alert when Steven Gerrard decided that Kennedy wasn’t part of his squad.
That isn’t going to change anytime soon, and if that is the case, it is time for him to move on and try and prove himself elsewhere, rather than soaking up wages.
Beale would rather put his time into other academy options such as Alex Lowry and the emerging types such as Zak Lovelace who both are catching the eye already since he arrived.
Rangers may not bring in many new faces, but they are going to see some faces leave, and although Kennedy wouldn’t go until the summer, he is set to sign off on his exit in a matter of weeks.
