Rangers transfer news as midfield signing needs to be new priority
Rangers need to change their transfer priority, either in January or next summer, according to Jordan Campbell of The Athletic.
The Gers spent over £12million on signing defenders and around £7million on strikers since winning the Scottish Premiership title in 2020-21. However, it is “bemusing” that the central midfield area has been largely overlooked.
The Bears have added attacking midfielders to their ranks but a proper No 6 has been missing for a while. Thus signing a young, athletic and technically gifted proper central midfielder should be a priority for the club.

Spot on
It seems Michael Beale has got a lot of options in midfield, but in truth, he is lacking a proper dynamic central midfielder.
The likes of Malik Tillman, Ianis Hagi, and Tom Lawrence are attacking midfielders but a proper central midfielder is needed when looking at the squad.
The likes of Glen Kamara and Ryan Jack have been used at the base of the midfield in the first two games under Beale, but the Bears have lacked creativity and excitement.

James Sands and John Lundstram are other options for the Gers boss, but a young and dynamic central midfielder will make a big difference to the side.
Alex Lowry is another player who can be a long-term asset for the club, but injuries have hampered his progress a bit.
Obviously, it’s hard to find a quality midfielder on the cheap. But at the same time, high transfer fees do not always guarantee top quality.
Rangers signed Kamara and Joe Aribo on the cheap, and they should look to replicate those types of deals in January or next summer.
In other Rangers news, a £5million twist has emerged in Southampton’s bid to sign Ryan Kent.
