Sky Sports pundit gushes over John Lundstram in Rangers win v Ross County
Andy Walker was full of praise for John Lundstram as Rangers secured a 1-0 win over Ross County in the Scottish Premiership on Friday (23 December).
The Bears have now closed the gap with Celtic to six points after picking up their third win in a row under Michael Beale ahead of Christmas.
Lundstram scored with a low drive 10 minutes from the break, but prior to that moment, Jon McLaughlin produced a magnificent save to deny George Harmon.

In the second half, Rangers got an opportunity to score when Fashion Sakala missed a good opportunity to score after a nice interchange of movement from Lundstram and Adam Devine, with the former producing a finely disguised pass.
“The pass from Lundstram is magnificent. Beautiful weight and disguise on it,” said Walker on Sky Sports [23 December, 8:41]
“It’s a great save from Laidlaw. Devine is onside and sets up Sakala. Like McLaughlin in the first half, it’s such an important save.”
Three points
Given the position the Bears were in a month ago, any fans will take this performance as a sign of improvement.
Sometimes, you need to win ugly and it was one of those performances. Both sides failed to create enough chances, but the Gers made the best use of the opportunity.
In the previous two games, Rangers came from behind to win by a 3-2 margin. We saw a different style being implemented by Beale.

There were patient build-ups and they finally got their reward when Lundstram fired low past goalkeeper Ross Laidlaw from 18 yards, he was absolutely immense.
Fashion Sakala was handed the central striking role as Beale made four changes to the side that won against Aberdeen. Likewise, Ben Davies got a chance to pair up with Connor Goldson at the back.
Beale will be slightly worried about the defensive fragility his side has shown, as Harmon came close to scoring while Owura Edwards flashed a low drive across the face of the goal.
In other Rangers news, the club are now fancying their chances of major a January transfer after Fabrizio Romano’s update with a move on the cards.
