Sky Sports pundit blown away by ‘Huge’ Jon McLaughlin moment in Rangers v Ross County
Jon McLaughlin produced a magnificent save for Rangers in the first half against Ross County and James McFadden was left mightily impressed.
Speaking on Sky Sports, the popular pundit has described the moment as “huge”, and hailed the save as incredible after McLaughlin denied George Harmon from close range.
McLaughlin came into the side after Allan McGregor missed out due to sickness, as Michael Beale made four changes to the side from the previous game.

“It’s a brilliant save from Jon McLaughlin, you have to say,” McFadden said live in the Sky Sports studio [23 December, 20:22].
“It’s an incredible save, a huge save for them as well at that point.”
Turning point
McFadden is absolutely spot-on with his assessment. It was a “huge” moment in the game, and the save ensured that there was no harm done to the scoreline.
Moments later, John Lundstram scored and gave the Bears the lead they were looking for.
McLaughlin, the second-choice keeper, started today in the absence of McGregor and like always he can be trusted when the team needs him. He hasn’t disappointed and Beale will be very happy with the goalkeeper’s performance.

Lundstram was the real hero of the match. Unlike the previous two games, which ended in 3-2 wins for the Gers, here we saw a different approach from Beale’s side.
They showed patience in their build-up and managed to stretch the County defence. Lundstram especially got himself into fantastic scoring areas and could have got another goal to his name as well.
With Beale admitting that a new goalkeeper wasn’t on the agenda next month, it is great to see that decision vindicated by another strong performance between the sticks.
