Rangers board compelled to trigger £6m Malik Tillman clause on one condition – BBC Sport
Malik Tillman has impressed on loan this season, and BBC Sport suggest that the Rangers board will be compelled to sign him permanently in the summer.
Rangers raided Bayern Munich for Tillman in the summer, with Giovanni van Bronckhorst wanting to add more creativity to his Rangers midfield.
The 20-year-old has done just that, and despite some criticism over his workrate and attitude at Ibrox, new manager Michael Beale appears to be a big fan of the US international.

Amid his bright form, BILD journalist Christian Falk reported in September that Rangers have the option to purchase Tillman for £6million in the summer should they wish to keep him permanently.
Rangers still have a few more months to finalise their decision, but BBC Sport suggest that the Ibrox board will be compelled to sign Tillman permanently on one condition – he maintains his current form.
The report adds: “The 20-year-old is blessed with wonderful balance on the ball and has been given license to get forward more often under Beale, who has already expressed his desire to keep the USA international when his loan from Bayern Munich expires.”
Shrewd business
Tillman hasn’t been perfect during his loan at Rangers – he’s certainly looked lethargic or unmotivated in some games under Van Bronckhorst.
But he has shown glimpses of brilliance at Ibrox, and he could well be a diamond in the rough for Beale to work with.

The 42-year-old is already getting some good performances out of him in his first two games as manager, and the more he gets to know and learn about Tillman the more he’ll improve him and help him fulfil his potential.
The £6million price tag isn’t small, but securing Tillman as a long-term project does seem to be smart business by the club. If he continues to improve season-on-season then there’s no doubt he’ll be worth double or triple that in a few years’ time.
Consistency is a big improvement Tillman needs to make though, and he has the remainder of hte season to prove to Beale that he can take feedback on board and improve. As things are currently going, expect Tillman to be sticking around in Glasgow over the summer.
