Iona Fyfe accuses Rangers fan of ‘disgusting misogynistic comments’ on FollowFollow, sends message to club

Scottish singer Iona Fyfe has called out Rangers on social media for alleged derogatory messages posted on an official fan forum.

Fyfe took to her personal Twitter account with a screenshot of a message that was supposedly written on official club partner FollowFollow, which she described as “disgusting” and “misogynistic”.

Her message also tagged the official Rangers account and asked if they condoned the messages sent on the platform run by fans.

“I’ve been made aware of some disgusting misogynistic comments made about me on Follow Follow,” she wrote (22 December).

“Rangers FC, do you condone comments like below?”

Awful

The comments are pretty awful to read and we totally understand why she would take to social media to be able to find out what will be done about them.

Rangers is a family club and will obviously not condone any of that behaviour, and while the site they were posted on is a Rangers fan site the club don’t have anything to do with it.

Follow Follow need to ban the user and delete the comments from the forum, to show that these things aren’t okay or condoned and that will go some way to stopping it happening again in the future.

But a small minority of people making silly comments obviously don’t represent the entire fan base and it shouldn’t be presented in that way either.

We all know that and deep down Fyfe knows it too, so hopefully a few idiots won’t affect the reputation of the whole fan base when it wouldn’t be true and doesn’t need to happen.
