John Lundstram could be wasted at Rangers under Michael Beale despite Aberdeen commitment
John Lundstram was the player Michael Beale opted to drop from the Rangers side for Connor Goldson to return to the fold against Aberdeen.
The 28-year-old had played as a makeshift centre-half against Hibernian in the first game back after the World Cup break alongside James Sands, another midfielder by trade, and they were both found out by Ryan Porteous and Kevin Nisbet.
Even though the Gers came from behind twice to win at Ibrox, Beale still chose to bring Goldson back into the mix at Pittodrie but surprisingly left Lundstram out of the side altogether.
Heart and Hand (official Rangers partners) reporter AT Colin on Twitter shared that Lundstram had actually taken injections for an injury to ensure he could be available to play the Dons.
That commitment has been embodied by others around Auchenhowie with James Tavernier playing while severely under the weather with illness and Alfredo Morelos playing through a knock while Antonio Colak recovers from his own injury.
The difference is that Morelos and Tavernier are both being selected by Beale still while Lundstram gets dropped despite playing ok for a midfielder shoved in at centre-half.

It is almost like this is a hangover from when Beale was Steven Gerrard’s assistant at Ibrox and the former Sheffield United player struggled to adapt for the first couple of months after his move from Bramall Lane.
The manager has to put his previous feelings towards him aside now and focus on the fact that he was brilliant under Giovanni van Bronckhorst in the middle of the park.
That is where he can be most effective for the club but if he does not get regular games then he will simply be wasted talent in Glasgow and he might as well leave as soon as he can.
In other Rangers news, Beale has already revealed some of his January transfer plans in the media and it might not be what fans want to hear.
