Barry Ferguson slams Connor Goldson for Giovanni van Bronckhorst dig after Aberdeen v Rangers
Barry Ferguson has criticised Connor Goldson and told him to keep quiet at Rangers after he took a swipe at former manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst.
Goldson made his return to the starting lineup on Tuesday after a lengthy spell on the sidelines, and helped Rangers to a 3-2 win over Aberdeen thanks to a late comeback.
After the match, the 30-year-old centre-back took a dig at Van Bronckhorst, suggesting that the side never would have turned the scoreline around under the Dutchman.

“It wasn’t pretty but it’s three points. We said in there, in probably the last two games, in the last six or eight weeks, we probably wouldn’t have won those games before,” Goldson told Rangers TV, as quoted by the Daily Record.
After hearing the comments, Ferguson told The Go Radio Football Show: “I don’t like hearing things like that. I think there is a way to go about it.
“Sometimes you can go away from the question. It’s not just Connor Goldson or Rangers players, when I see any player or a manager says something after a manager has lost his job; you are better keeping quiet. Get away from the question that is getting answered, I think there is a way to do that.
“I don’t like seeing it. The results weren’t great under Gio at the end, and sadly he lost his job. There is a new manager in and I think there is a way to go about it.”
Focus on the future
Goldson’s comments show just how frustrated the Rangers’ dressing room was in the final few weeks of Van Bronckhorst’s reign.

The team evidently lacked confidence, motivation and direction under the Dutchman, and Beale is now tasked with turning it around.
But Ferguson might be right – Goldson is perhaps better off keeping quiet. Regardless of whether his comments are true or not, saying it publicly only causes division and bitterness.
After a terrible start to the season, Rangers need to focus on the future rather than being tied up in the past. Van Bronckhorst did do plenty of good things during his time at Ibrox – he’s now moved on and full support should be with Beale.
Tuesday’s win provides the whole club with plenty of momentum for the business end of the season, and everyone inside Ibrox should be focused on finishing strong.
