Andy Walker wowed by ‘brilliant’ Malik Tillman in first half of Rangers v Aberdeen

Malik Tillman enjoyed a superb first half for Rangers against Aberdeen on Tuesday night, and the loan star left Andy Walker stunned with one piece of skill.

Rangers headed into the dressing room 1-0 up against Aberdeen at halftime thanks to Fashion Sakala’s opening goal after just 12 minutes.

Just moments after the goal, attacking midfielder Tillman picked up the ball in a dangerous area and made a direct run at Aberdeen defender Liam Scales. He left the 24-year-old bamboozled before setting up Alfredo Morelos in the box.

Walker piled praise on Tillman for his impressive skill while live on air with Sky Sports Main Event (20 December, 8:14pm).

“Brilliant from Tillman. A great bit of skill.

“Look at Tillman, look at the way he gets away from Liam Scales. The cutback – he makes room for himself Morelos but there’s a body in front of him.”

Thriving under Beale

Tillman was impressive last week against Hibernian and kept his place for the trip to Aberdeen. The 20-year-old Bayern Munich loanee has faced criticism for his workrate at times this season, but his technical ability has never been in doubt.

He’s shown glimpses of brilliance during his time in Glasgow and he can add his skill against Aberdeen to his impressive highlight reel.

After expressing his love for the club earlier this week [Glasgow Live], Tillman seems to be enjoying his football more than ever under new manager Michael Beale.

If he carries on his current trajectory of creating and scoring chances, then the Gers board will have no choice but to push for his loan deal to become permanent in the summer.

He’s young, bright and a creative spark in the centre of the pitch. If Beale can work on his mentality and attitude then Rangers may have a future star on their hands.
