Ridvan Yilmaz suffers ‘worst’ possible hamstring tear as serious Rangers injury blow emerges

Michael Beale has revealed that Rangers left-back Ridvan Yilmaz will need more time to recover as he is suffering from a “worst” possible hamstring tear.

Yilmaz, who joined in the summer transfer window from Besiktas, picked up a hamstring injury during Rangers’ 4-1 win against Aberdeen on 29 October.

Official commercial partner for the club, Four Lads Had A Dream, has shared on Twitter (15 December) what Beale said about Yilmaz after the Bears won 3-2 against Hibernian at Ibrox.

He will need five to six weeks more to recover properly.

“Michael Beale confirms Ridvan Yilmaz has worst Hamstring injury possible, faces 12 weeks out of which he is 6-7 weeks into. Not good news,” wrote Four Lads had a dream on Twitter.

Blow

This is indeed bad news for the club, and Yilmaz will miss a chunk of action for the next two months at least.

The 21-year-old defender came to Ibrox with a lot of promise but he is yet to show his potential.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst didn’t give him enough chances and continued with Borna Barisic.

Yilmaz was superb against Napoli in the 3-0 defeat away from home and was looking good in the early stages against Aberdeen before he picked up the injury.

He was also linked with a move to return to Turkey, but his agent has made it clear that the player doesn’t plan to do so.

It remains to be seen whether Michael Beale will sign a new left-back in the January window, as he is left with Borna Barisic as the only option at the club.

Barisic played for Croatia in the World Cup and he could be given some time-off by the club before he returns to the side.

In other Rangers news, an out-of-court agreement could be reached for the Gers as documents have been submitted.
