Fresh Rangers contract developments with Ianis Hagi revealed

Ianis Hagi penned a new deal at Ibrox on December 15 but there was no indication as to how long the contract was at the time of the announcement.

It was initially revealed by transfer guru Fabrizio Romano that Hagi had signed a deal until 2026 but this doesn’t seem to be the case.

According to the Daily Record, Hagi’s contract runs until 2025, meaning the new deal is a two-year extension on his existing one, which was due to expire this coming summer.

“Ianis Hagi’s new deal at Rangers runs until 2025 after the club moved to put concerns over a pre-contract exit to bed,” as quoted by the Daily Record.

“It was reported at the time he signed his last deal that it ran until 2024, but this is not believed to be the case.

“Record Sport understands Hagi’s new deal is a two-year extension on his existing one, which was due to expire this coming summer.

“He’s now under contract until 2025 with the club keen to tie him down and avoid any risk of him signing a pre-contract deal with another club in January.”

Rangers

The future.

Rangers have now penned deals for two players under the age of 30 in the same week and this is a fantastic bit of business from the Light Blues.

Both deals were pretty unexpected but have been welcomed with open arms by the Gers fanbase, with both talents being highly regarded.

Hagi then followed this with what we know now to be a deal until 2025, added onto his current contract to avoid any transfer blunders in January.

Fortunately, this has put to bed any hearsay over how long Hagi’s actual contract extension was, something that was a source for debate on Twitter.

Are we in for a Hagi redemption story in 2023? We have our fingers and toes crossed that the Romainian can become a force under Michael Beale.
