Rangers Director expresses delight at Leon King contract extension news
Rangers Youth Development co-director Colin Stewart has labelled the signature of Leon King on a new deal “fantastic news”, after the youngster extended his stay at Ibrox till June 2026.
King, 18, had long been linked with a move to the Premier League after breaking into the Gers’ first team this season, but the arrival of Michael Beale quickly put to bed any lingering doubts. [Fabrizio Romano]
The centre-back started all of Rangers’ Champions League fixtures under Giovanni van Bronckhorst and is now set to thrive under Beale, who is renowned for placing faith in youth.

Taking to Twitter to express his delight at the news, the former Players Charity Trustee, Stewart, tweeted: “Fantastic news.”
Beale pulling power
The news of King signing a new deal is brilliant news for the club, with the defender holding a reputation as one of the bright stars in the game.
With several Premier League clubs keeping close tabs on the youngster, the club’s ability to secure him on a long-term deal highlights just what Beale brings to the Glasgow club.
The 42-year-old’s history working with youngsters and helping them to develop into first-team regulars is surely one of the primary reasons King put pen to paper, and this bodes well for the future.
The defender will now benefit hugely from the trust handed to him by the club, and a run of games in the first team will only take him from strength to strength.
With several other academy stars such as Alex Lowry and Adam Devine lurking on the fringes of the starting XI, Rangers have a core of young talent who can thrive at the club for many years to come.
